About
Ian Carr-Boyd has practiced medicine at Katoomba in the Blue Mountains since 1983. Ian's approach to medicine and life in general is guided by a belief in making positive choices as the basis for wellness.

Born in Chatswood, Sydney, Ian went to school in North Sydney and gained his medical degree from the University of New South Wales (MB.BS, 1972-1977).
Following qualification, Ian served internships at Woden Valley and Goulburn Hospitals (1978–1979); in the early 1980s, he practiced and undertook further medical studies in New Zealand (Family Medicine Training Program, Palmerston North; Obstetrics, Wanganui Hospital).
In 1983, he returned to Australia, gaining a Diploma from the Royal Australian College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. From 1983-1989, Ian served as Visiting Medical Officer (Anaesthetics & Obstetrics) at Katoomba Hospital.
In addition to his current medical practices at Katoomba and Springwood, Ian has also practiced general medicine at Mudgee, NSW (2005-2009), Bathurst, NSW (2010-2013) and Lawson, Blue Mountains (2013-2014).
With varied interests, Ian takes full advantage of the Blue Mountains environment and regularly enjoys camping, rock climbing, canyoning, cycling and bushwalking. Testimony to his commitment to a healthy lifestyle, Ian has climbed in the Himalayas, walked the Kokoda Trail and run two Sydney-to-Surfs.
